My Father Would Be Proud Now!
20 January, 2017

I was always involved in Martial Arts as a teenager and young adult and when my children started to show an interest it was the perfect opportunity to get back in and spend time with them doing what I love. This was always going to be a part of my life.
My training has helped give me persistence to keep going even when I doubted myself. The courage to pursue my dreams and make them a reality. I see myself as a confident person and hope that those around me see me as a positive influence. I am proud of what I do. My training has taught to me how to be more assertive without crossing the line and staying humble.

Some of the most important people in my life are the ones I train with.

My favourite part of training is learning new techniques or patterns and being put on the spot to demonstrate or spar as it brings me out of my comfort zone and cements the fact that I can perform under pressure. I enjoy helping during class and grading as it is just as important to me to give back to our community. Some of the most important people in my life are the ones I train with.
2nd Dan is important to me because it means that I have committed to the next level when it would just be easy to coast through or quit like many do.

I knew that attaining 1st Dan was only the beginning of the journey for me. I smile every time I put my belt on and walk into class because I know what it’s taken me to get here and where I am going. My father would be proud now, he started this journey many years ago. So achieving this next belt will be extra special and I dedicate this to him.
