The Gentle Art of Self Defence
Our unique and traditional style of Hapkido known
as Yoo Sool Hapkido has been introduced to Australia since the ninties by the late Grand Master Cha Sok Park.
Yoo Sool Hapkido principles were developed approximately three thousand years ago by a Buddist monk for the purpose of self defence. The techniques have been refined and modified considerably since then to offer one of the most effective martial arts training systems for the 21st century.
Hapkido can literally be translated as follows:
Hap – Together
Ki – Internal energy combining mental and physical power
Do – Way or Style
Through our Hapkido system students can learn to become one with nature. They learn to harmonise their instincts with their own body power. The techniques include kicks, strikes, throws, grasps and weapons with all movements aimed at the opponent’s pressure points, joints and other vital organs.
Our unique Hapkido system uses soft circular motions and avoids confronting the attacker’s power, making it known as the gentle martial art.
