My children and other mothers inspired me!
25 March, 2017

My children and other mothers inspired me to start training.
I started World Taekwondo after two of my children were already training. After watching my children train, noticing the values taught, acknowledging the many health benefits and seeing other mothers training I was inspired to train myself. As a child, I was a former gymnast and I was excited to train in a sport where I could have bare feet again. It was also great to be able to train in a sport with my children.

My training has helped me through some stressful times.

It is wonderful to be able to walk through the door for training and leave all your problems behind for a while. I also found the support through other World Taekwondo members to be very beneficial during these times.
The many health benefits including fitness, flexibility, strength, balance, concentration and focus have improved my overall health with many people commenting that I look younger. I find that after training I am happier.

After training I am happier!

My favourite part of training is the patterns. I love the flow and movement combined with the skills required to perform the movements. I find patterns a great way of focusing and losing myself in them. I love the community and culture of the club. Everyone is very supportive, friendly and encouraging.
I also love that I get to train with my son Blake and that we have a common interest which has given us a stronger bond/relationship.
Obtaining my Black Belt is important to me because it is an acknowledgement of my work and commitment. It is also a very respected achievement in the wider community and something I decided from my first day of training that I would strive for.
